Our Dog Guest's
Here at Upperwood, we are proud of what we offer your dogs. The fact that owners of pets have been using our facilities for decades is testament in itself to our dedicated service. We understand that every dog has a different routine and we will do our utmost to simulate that routine the best way we can.
On your dogs arrival we want to know as much as possible about him/her. We want to know his likes and dislikes. We need to know about any allergies, or medical conditions he may have. Although we have 24 hour vets just a phone call away, we will also require to know which vet you use, and also how to contact you in the highly unlikely event that we should need to. It is a good idea to nominate a friend or relative that you trust that we can speak to if we are unable to reach you while you are away.
All dogs staying with us will require up to date annual vaccinations and proof of them must be provided when checking in. It is against licensing law to permit any pet to be resident in any kennels in the UK without this, so please, make certain they are in order. We also ask that all dogs have had their Kennels Cough vaccine. Some vets do not administer this unless you request it, so again, please ensure it has been done.
It is an early start here at Upperwood. All the dogs will have been exercised, and had their breakfast before we open at 9 am. Although we are not open for owners between 11 am and 2:30 pm it certainly does not mean we are closed. This is the when our guests get to have full use of the 15 acres of fields for lead walks. It is also when we have our play times in the paddocks and bath time for the residents that have requested one.
Every dog has their own private sleeping area. The only time dogs share a sleeping area is when multiple dogs are owned by the same family (unless it has been requested that they sleep apart). The dogs are alternated into the spacious exercise areas throughout the day. This is done approximately every 15/20 minutes. This ensures the dogs have plenty of exercise, but also get their rest time and human contact all day. We do not at anytime mix dogs from different owners, but all the dogs get to happily socialise with other dogs as the exercise paddocks are adjacent to one another.
You may bring as much, or as little of your dogs belongings as you wish, however, we will provide everything your dog will require during his stay. If you want your dog to remain on the food he has at home, that is not a problem. All we ask is that it is clearly labelled and you provide clear measuring instructions so that we know exactly how much to feed. Our guests are normally fed twice daily but we can give extra feeds for puppies or dogs needing more portions.
We will administer most medications, either orally or externally. Please ensure that all medication is clearly labelled and instructions are provided. If your dog requires medications that need to be injected such as insulin, please speak to a member of staff before you make your booking.
There is always a member of staff on the premises so if you are worried about your dog while you are away, please do not hesitate to give us a call so we can put your mind to rest, so you are able to enjoy the rest of your time away knowing your dog is also having a great time!

Our boys Alfie & Charlie have been going to Upperwood for the last eight years .
The staff are so loving and caring and they are looked after just like a family member . Nothing is too much trouble especially giving medication etc Great outdoor run and plenty of fresh air . It always gives us peace of mind knowing they will be looked after . Thankyou Upperwood wouldn't go anywhere else .

Having been apprehensive leaving my dogs in other kennels in the past as they have come back stressed, dirty, smelly I have always opted for home boarding ( dog much happier but still smelly)... I decided to try Upperwood on recommendation and it did not disappoint, my dogs seemed happy, well cared for, had eaten, returned clean and didn’t smell. The kennels are clean and the dogs have plenty of outdoor time to excersize. Thank you again .. 5* isn’t enough ... would give 100**** x

This is a lovely kennels with friendly staff who make you feel very welcome. Our dog Ziggy trots off very happily and clearly enjoys being there. Whats more he comes home in good condition which was not the case with his last kennels. No hesitation in highly recommending Upperwood.

I have only had my 4yr old staffy X American bulldog for just over a year now and kennels etc were all new to me. I have to go to hospital occasionally throughout the year due to a health condition, Upperwood have always taken my Mollie in not knowing if it's gonna be for 2 nights or 10 nights. I know there she is looked after as if it were their own, she's always excited to go, the staff are super friendly and do an amazing job and I appreciate the service they provide so much, so thanks guys I wouldn't take Mollie anywhere but Upperwood.
